McCain’s Health

There’s a big fat elephant in the room, and it’s stinking up the place.

Let’s forget John McCain’s age for a moment. We all know that he would be the oldest man ever sworn in as President of the United States of America. We get that.

But, what about his cancer?

Is the media too afraid to talk about it? Is the topic just too morbid? Are people afraid of appearing as if they are wishing death on him? Well, how about we all just bury our heads in the sand? Don’t bother coming up for air.

It is easy to cry “ageism” anytime someone suggests that, perhaps, electing a man in his 70’s is not such a great idea. What people forget to add is that this 72 year old man has had four (count them, 1-2-3-4) bouts with melanoma. Questioning if a cancerous 72 year old man should be elected to one of the most aging jobs in the world isn’t ageism. It’s a legitimate concern.

Who’s afraid Elephant in the room? You can’t ignore it forever.
